On February 14, 2002, we placed our child at Woodside Trails to begin his journey of healing.
Two years before we had placed him in a hospital type setting of doctors, nurses and "sterile” environment. There were two years of television, locked doors, and lots of medicine.
Our son had been tortured and experienced ritualistic abuse before we adopted him at age five. No amount of medicine is going to take away his anger, fear, and indignation of what had been done to him. We tried desperately to keep him at home, but he was a danger to the other children.
While our son was housed in a sterile environment, we began the search for what he needed. We promised him we would never leave him or give up.
We found Woodside Trails. This is where our son will be able to heal. He will have a voice. He will be allowed to grieve, learn to trust, feel to trust, and in time he will be able to know he deserves the love that surrounds him.
The staff at Woodside Trails feels intuitively. Due to their extensive experience, they know what these children are feeling and what they need. They are the most compassionate, dedicated and loving group of people. That is what we have chosen for our child.
Looking from the outside in, there is no way one could understand the depth of work that takes place in this haven.
Woodside Trails' wilderness is the stillness, the quiet and the soil where new birth will erupt. There will be life with joy.
